Granites and gneisses

There are many different types of Granite that can be seen in our cities, some are given trade names. Here are some pictures of some of them.

"Baltic Brown" - orbicular granite from Scandinavia

Peterhead Granite - pale pink with xenoliths (inclusions of other rock) from Aberdeenshire

"Balmoral Red" Granite - from Scandinavia

Gneisses - high grade metamorphic rocks are being used more frequently as gravestones - here are pictures of three sorts
