Location: North Yorkshire Coast (found on beach)

Class: Ammonoid

Sub Class: Dactgho?????

Age: Jurassic

Shape: Evolute

Mode: Nektonic, free swimming buoyancy achieved using air chambers

Fossil shown is actually 3 inch wide, and found as an erratic on the beach.

Unfortunately this fossil is to badly worn by the sea to identify clearly which species of Ammonitida this is.

Carefully removing sedimentation from around fossil would possible reveal species, but great care not to damage fossil would need to be taken.
